Parrot Food Safety Dataset
Every food on this site, as a plain table you can download, quote or build on. Free to use under CC BY 4.0 — attribution only.
86 entries · 18 toxic · 28 caution · 40 safe · last updated 2026-11-04
What this is
A flat table answering one question per row: can a parrot eat this? Each entry carries the verdict, the mechanism behind it, the symptoms to watch for, a sensible portion for a medium-sized parrot, and a safer substitute when one exists.
The dataset is the source of truth behind every page on this site — the site is rendered directly from it, so the download and the pages can never drift apart.
Who it is for
- App and tool builders who need a parrot-safe food list without writing one from scratch.
- Bloggers and forum moderators who want to check a claim before repeating it.
- Anyone building a diet or meal-planning tool where a wrong default is dangerous.

}Limits you should know before relying on it
- One row, one verdict. Real risk depends on species, body weight, how much was eaten and whether the bird already has liver or kidney disease.
- Portions are for a medium parrot. A budgie is not a small African grey — scale down or, for anything marked caution, skip it.
- This is general reference information, not veterinary advice. If a bird has already eaten something on the toxic list, call an avian veterinarian; do not wait for symptoms.
- Gaps are marked caution rather than guessed. Where published evidence for parrots is thin, the entry says so.
