Can parrots eat corn?
Caution
OK cooked, in moderation — it is starch, not a vegetable.

- Vegetable
- Verdict
- Only in small amounts
- Amount
- A few kernels of cooked corn, 2 times a week.
- Safer swap
- Peas
Why
Corn is mostly carbohydrate with little micronutrient value, so it fills birds up without nourishing them. Dried corn also carries mould risk if stored badly.
What to watch for
Signs that the amount was too much:
- weight gain
- reduced interest in vegetables
What to feed instead
If you were reaching for corn, peas gives you the same job — a treat the bird will actually take — without the risk. Can parrots eat peas?
How much is too much
A few kernels of cooked corn, 2 times a week.
Treats and fruit should stay under roughly 20% of the daily bowl. The rest is pellets, leafy greens and a good chop.
