- Only in small amounts
- Amount
- One or two pitted cherries, as an occasional treat.

- Blueberries
Why
Cherry flesh is safe and most parrots like it. The pit contains cyanogenic glycosides and is also a choking risk, so it must be removed every time. Never feed canned, glazed or maraschino cherries.
What to watch for
Signs that the amount was too much:
- choking
- drooling
- weakness
What to feed instead
If you were reaching for cherries, blueberries gives you the same job — a treat the bird will actually take — without the risk. Can parrots eat blueberries?
How much is too much
One or two pitted cherries, as an occasional treat.
Treats and fruit should stay under roughly 20% of the daily bowl. The rest is pellets, leafy greens and a good chop.
